We are a new start-up company in Bristol, UK, based at Future Space, which is located on the University of the West of England (UWE) campus. The business provides molecular diagnostics services to the animal health sector and is actively engaged in research aimed at improving animal health and welfare outcomes through rapid pathogen detection. We are currently involved in research and collaboration with an academic from UWE, and we maintain connections to the thriving ecosystem of technology start-ups based in Bristol. | |

In this internship placement, you are likely to participate in processing samples collected from animals for diagnostic purposes. Nucleic acid extraction, followed by isothermal amplification techniques, restriction enzyme digestion, agarose gel electrophoresis and gel staining would be the main focus of diagnostic caseload processing. There is also scope to assist with development of novel point-of-care molecular diagnostics for the animal health sector. Additionally, you will get to see what it is like to work in a new start-up company, and interact with the people working with other companies based at Future Space. | |
