Overview of PIPS organisation
Phytoform Labs Ltd is a VC-backed biotech firm dedicated to sustainable agriculture. Our interdisciplinary team has developed CRE.AI.TIVETM, an AI-driven platform that discovers new crop genetics for improved resilience and yield. We utilize our proprietary, non- transgenic CRISPR genome editing technology to integrate these discoveries into commercial crop varieties. We have collaborations with global agricultural companies, with our pipeline of traits most advanced for tomatoes and potatoes.
The student will join our fast-moving data science team that is developing large foundation models for plant genetics. The outcomes of the models are directly passed to our R&D team that validates model predictions in wetlab, creating a unique iterative loop with genetic outcomes that lead to useful crop traits.
The student will have a direct exposure to all elements of a cutting-edge data science project. With a background in Bioinformatics, student’s direct responsibility will be helping the team prepare, filter and package -omics datasets that will be used for model training. In addition, the student will work to organise the data in easy to access databases with critical assessment of the data sources and data quality.
PhD candidate with a background in Bioinformatics and/or Biology.
The student will receive £500 a month bursary from Phytoform Labs to cover extra expenses associated with the placement.
