Overview of PIPS organisation
FluoretiQ is pioneering a rapid diagnostic platform for bacteria identification which will ensure that patients receive the best anti-biotic treatment from day one. For patients, this means faster recovery times and for healthcare providers, this means significant cost savings. We are based at Future Space in Bristol with easy access to Bristol Parkway train station and Filton Abbey wood train station.
Placement offered

Design a PCR-based method to monitor fimbriae gene expression of E.coli under different conditions to determine the regulation from transcriptionally inactive to active state. This will be based around a research project diving further into the theory behind FluoretiQ’s Nanoplex technology.

 
Person Specification

  • Ideally 1-2 years of clinical or microbiology laboratory experience
  • A team player with strong interest in building a career in the Life Science sector
  • MSc or BSc level qualification in Microbiology, Biomedical Sciences or Biochemistry
  • Good time management and organisation skills
  • Familiarity with test protocols or design of experiments (DoE) methodology
  • Experience working in a BSL-2 laboratory
  • Familiarity with GLP
  • Analytical thinker with good problem-solving skills to overcome technical issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
PIPS organisation will fund in-house costs and reimburse the student of any out of pocket expenses related to the placement business
