The application deadline has now passed for studentships funded by the SWBio DTP. However, projects are still available to be applied to by external-funded applicants (including self-funded applicants).
The SWBio DTP offers projects that encompass two BBSRC priority areas; World-class Bioscience and Agriculture & Food Security. Underneath these two priority areas, sit three Research Themes.
- Agriculture and the Environment
- Animal Behaviour and In Vivo Studies
- Biomolecular and Biophysical Studies

Of note, some projects may involve fieldwork or time away from the listed host institution for e.g. time spent with a CASE partner, collaborating university. To find out further information, please contact the listed main/Rothamsted supervisor.
For projects hosted at Rothamsted Research (North Wyke or Harpenden), you will be mainly based with the research organisation but registered at the university where the academic supervisor is based. The Rothamsted supervisor will be responsible for supervising you on a daily basis, but the academic supervisor will be responsible for monitoring your academic progress.
For all project enquiries please contact the listed main/Rothamsted supervisor, unless otherwise stated in the project description.
