Overview of PIPS organisation

Lumi is a platform that leverages Computer vision, Voice and Machine Learning to capture and analyse operational data. It works as a true assistant across all stages of Life Sciences Development, from Research to Production environments.

Lumi is currently deployed with various Pharma & BioTech companies and has a range of smart-alerts focused on liquids & vessel based experiments, we’re keen to further expand Lumi’s capability in the context of chemical synthesis and BioTech processes.

Reach Industries is the company behind Lumi, we are a start-up with a mission to augment scientists and make labs more efficient, so they can better and faster tackle world challenges, which is even more important today. We believe that technology should augment humans, so that they can focus less on the mundane and more on what humans are good at.

Placement offered

We’re looking for an “in-house” scientist that can help give critical feedback in a lab setting as part of the Lumi product development. You would be free to design, set up and investigate any project that you want over the 3 month period but ideally it would be chemical synthesis work or BioTech related and working closely with our computer vision team and giving feedback, meaning they must be aligned with the product road map.

Additionally, you would support the engineering team with interpreting customer needs and this might include site visits.  You will need access to a lab if you are not based in Bristol but we do have a small budget for materials.

Requirements

We’re looking for people with:

● Min Undergraduate degree in Chemistry / biology / biochemistry or related

● Excellent communication, relationship-building skills

● Demonstrable prioritization, time management & organizational skills

● Ability to create and deliver presentations tailored to the audience needs

● Relationship management skills and openness to feedback

● Willingness and confidence to reach out & network

● Hands-on lab experience

● Excellent interpersonal and strong communication skills; both verbal and written.
